Central European University brings together students and faculty from over 100 countries for graduate study in an extraordinarily international, interdisciplinary atmosphere that encourages open debate and the exchange of ideas.

Accredited in both the U.S. and Hungary, CEU offers English-language graduate degree programs in the social sciences and humanities, business and economics, environmental sciences and policy, law, network science, cognitive science and mathematics. It draws on the research tradition of great American universities as well as the most valuable intellectual legacies of Central Europe. Distinctive for the integrated approach it brings to teaching, research and public service, CEU also emphasizes comparative and interdisciplinary coursework and engages in collaborative research projects to create new knowledge and to help solve complex societal problems. At CEU, we believe our diverse student body is our best asset. We are committed to maintaining a student-oriented academic culture, drawing on the knowledge and perspectives that our multicultural student community provides. Our outstanding 8:1 student/faculty ratio ensures a dynamic environment for academic collaboration and debate. CEU has earned global recognition for a variety of programs, including political science, international relations, philosophy and sociology, while it continues to invest in exciting new fields such as cognitive science and network science. We offer three two-year Erasmus Mundus master’s programs in partnership with leading European institutions: in public policy, environmental sciences, policy and management, and women’s and gender studies. CEU is committed to attracting talented students and scholars from around the world, and provides generous scholarships available to accepted students from any country. In 2017-2018, 82% of CEU students received financial aid, ranging from tuition awards to scholarships with stipends and housing. CEU offers funding assistance for internal research projects as well as for collaborative projects with other research centers and universities worldwide. CEU also receives research funds from the European Commission, the European Research Council, the UN, government agencies, international NGOs, and other private and public sources. CEU Careers offers guidance, support and information to students and alumni as they develop and pursue personal visions for impact and success all over the world. Our graduates are employed in the public, private, nonprofit and multilateral sectors as well as within higher education. CEU’s alumni network consists of some 15,000 graduates living and working in 136 countries. They include parliamentarians, ambassadors, UN officers, international affairs experts, economists, policymakers, business leaders, academics, international law scholars and human rights advocates. CEU is a student-oriented university with a wide range of service units that provide personal attention and support to help students make their time at CEU as convenient, fruitful and memorable as possible. The Residence Center, which houses some 400 students, is the heart of off-campus student life, making for a lively home away from home.
