One of the top Technical Universities in the world, DTU has a reputation for internationalism, innovation and strong links with industry.

DTU is an internationally renowned University, and it is amongst the top technical universities in Europe and the World. The University was founded in 1829 by the father of electromagnetism, H. C. Ørsted, whose vision was to create a polytechnical institution that would benefit society through natural and technical sciences – with a view to creating value for society. DTU has an international reputation for innovation and it collaborates across fields of research and organizational units to create innovative and sustainable products and solutions. It is one of the top universities in the world when it comes to collaborating with Industry. Moreover, DTU is an innovative university that covers the entire value chain – from knowledge creation and patent applications to business development and investments in spin outs and spin – offs.

DTU also has a strong international outlook. With 23 joint international MSc programs, numerous summer schools, exchange programs and 28 full degree MSc programs, the University attracts gifted students from every corner of the globe. Overall, approximately one third of all MSc students and more than half of our PhD fellows have an international background. This emphasis on the global markets is also in evidence in DTU’s strategic alliances such as the EuroTech Universities collaboration, Nordic5Tech, KAIST (Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology). Similarly, within the EU Erasmus Mundus program DTU collaborates on student exchange programs with approximately 188 European Universities.

DTU's main campus is located in Lyngby in the greater Copenhagen area. It takes approximately 25 minutes by bus from Lyngby to the centre of Copenhagen, which enables students to enjoy all elements of cultural and historical sights of a European capital. DTU offers several Masters Programmes. The two-year MSc’s are research based programs at the highest technological level. In these programs, students acquire the qualifications and skills necessary to analyse, synthesize and evaluate theory and experiments relating to complex engineering systems, problems and solutions. All Master programs are taught exclusively in English. Honour programs are offered by each MSc program. DTU has a formal collaboration with India, which was set up in 2013.

DTU offers 28 full degree Master programs and 23 joint international Master programs. The MSc is a two -year programme with a workload of 120 ECTS credit points. The MSc programmes are research based and train students in research methods, teach them to adopt a constructive and critical approach to research findings, and to translate new knowledge into technical solutions. DTU's MSc programmes cover most modern Engineering fields and are taught exclusively in English. DTU offers Honour programmes on every MSc programme. In the Honours Programme, elite students have access to a particularly challenging course of studies. Joint International Programmes - DTU collaborates with a number of acknowledged universities from around the globe and offers multiple joint international programmes in collaboration with these. DTU students have the opportunity of studying one year at DTU and the second year at the partner university and attaining a double degree in 2 years,

scholarships

DTU offers tuition fee waivers. The waivers are very limited in number and highly competitive. Decisions on waivers are taken primarily on the basis of academics. Besides, there are possibilities for industrial scholarship. These are defined to particular fields of study.
