A QS World University ranked institution, VGTU is well known for its high standard technical and engineering education and research, its innovative approach and outlook, and its strong international links.

Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU) is one of the largest state universities in Lithuania, and it has a leading position in Lithuanian technical and engineering education, and research. Studies are organized in three cycles: undergraduate (BSc), graduate (MSc) and postgraduate (PhD) studies. VGTU has earned its reputation as a leading university by integrating innovative approaches into a technical foundation.

Approximately 11,000 students are currently studying at VGTU in 2015. Scientific research and experimental development is performed by 14 institutes, 2 research centres and 33 research laboratories. Vilnius Gediminas Technical University aims to foster highly qualified, creative and socially active specialists, who would be able to successfully adapt to both European and foreign education and labour markets.

VGTU is proud of its Civil Engineering Research Centre, the most modern centre of its type in Eastern Europe, as well as the Mobile Applications Laboratory, which is the biggest one in Lithuania. Having more than 400 foreign university partners, VGTU offers good opportunities for wide international studies and placements. VGTU is the leader in Lithuania in terms of the number of students studying under the Erasmus Exchange Programme abroad. VGTU is ranked amongst the top 4% of the world's best universities, according to the 2015 QS World University Rankings.

Universities goal is to educate socially responsible, creative personalities, receptive to the latest scientific discoveries and modern technologies. While promoting the advancement of science, universities aim is to contribute to the social and economic well-being development of Lithuania and the entire region.
