Farming accounts for almost half of Europe’s land areas, so agriculture, forestry and food have always been hotly contested subjects. Generally courses in this category fall in two camps – the more vocational land management style course, and those with a focus on applied science. According to the QS World University Rankings 2016, European HEIs perform well, particularly HEIs in Northern Europe – and the Global number one spot is occupied by Wageningen University in The Netherlands. the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (7), Agro Paris Tech (5), the University of Reading UK (12), ETH Zurich in Switzerland (18), University of Copenhagen in Denmark (27), Norwegian University of Life Sciences (UMB) (28), BOKU in Vienna (39), the University of Honenheim in Germany (41), and the University of Nottingham in the UK (42), all making the World’s Top 50. Ranked 51-100, EHEVF 2016 India and South Asia participant Aarhus University in Denmark is also considered a good place to study this subject - its Faculty of Agricultural Sciences offering Masters degrees in  MSc in Molecular Nutrition and Food Technology, MSc in Biosystems Engineering, MSc in Agrobiology, and an MSc in Agro-Environmental Management.
