The home of Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung and the birthplace of psychoanalytic thought, Europe today remains one of the best regions to study Psychology. The Netherlands in particular has many universities and HEIs offering high standard academic courses including the University of Amsterdam, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, Erasmus University RotterdamRadboud University Nijmegen and Utrecht University – all of which make the QS World University Rankings 2016 top 50. Several Universities in Belgium including the University of Ghent, and Katholieke Universiteit Leuven are also well respected internationally. Study areas range from clinical and developmental psychology, to social psychology, behavioural psychology, cognitive science and even forensic psychology. EHEVF 2016 India and South Asia participants from the Netherlands Leiden University and the University of Groningen both feature in the QS Rankings 2016 top 100. The latter offers a 1 year English-taught Master of Science in Psychology, as well as three English-taught 2 year research masters – in Behavioural and Social Sciences, Human-Machine Communication, and Behavioural and Cognitive Neuroscience. Leiden University offers a BSc in Psychology in English, as well as a 1 year MSc in Psychology which provides an in-depth study of theory and focuses on professional and research skills. It also offers a 2 year MSc in Psychology (Research) with a focus on Clinical and Health Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience, Developmental Psychology, and Social and Organisational Psychology.
