Founded in 1919, Centrale Nantes (ECN) is a top higher education and research institution in France with a strong reputation for Science & Engineering. Its purpose is to develop top level scientists & engineers in multidisciplinary and specific fields from the 2,150 students per year in the engineering track (5 years), Master Degrees and PhDs. International development is at the heart of the strategic policy of Centrale Nantes: 100% of its engineering students are going abroad and 30% of the campus population is international. Centrale Nantes has developed a strong international policy covering research and projects with companies such as DCNS, Total, and Michelin. Its five research laboratories provide strong links with French industry and enjoy a global reputation for excellence, particularly in naval hydrodynamic, civil engineering, composite & advanced materials and robotics. The quality of the training offered by the school is also recognized by the corporate world which has linked-up with Centrale Nantes to recruit top level engineers. Centrale Nantes’s programs are also recognised by the European Commission and have the Erasmus Mundus label of excellence. The institution is currently involved in 4 Erasmus Mundus A.1 projects (3 Master, 1 Doctorate), 15 Erasmus Mundus A.2 projects (3 as coordinator with India and South Asia), two A.3 projects - and some grants are available within these projects.

Approximately 50% of Centrale Nantes Masters students come from India. Thanks to the Erasmus Mundus Action 2 projects coordinated by Centrale Nantes, 263 students and staff from India have benefited from a full scholarship to study in Europe so far - and 70 % of the institutes Master students come from Asia. International English-taught Masters on offer include Urban Environment: Atmosphere, Water and Urban Environment;  Applied Mechanics: Computational Mechanics; Design of Systems and Products; Materials Process and Technology Composites; Hydrodynamics and Ocean Engineering; Energetics & Propulsion;  Master in AMASONE: Ship Operation and Naval Engineering; Civil Engineering; Control Engineering, Robotics and Applied Informatics: Advanced Robotics; Automatic Control, Signal, & Image; Real Time, Steering and Supervision.

The international office helps all international students to meet administrative requirements and to secure accommodation near to the campus. Centrale Nantes also proposes plenty of activities through various clubs and associations.
